Adult Free Play Basketball
Show off your skills! Adults can improve your basketball techniques amongst their peers.

After School Tutoring
Stay ahead of the game and keep your studies in order. Students receive assistance to help them succeed in Reading, Math, English and Science.

Walking for Fitness
Looking for an inexpensive way to lose weight and strength your overall general health, then start walking around our spacious grounds or the inside facility. Come on out and walk your way to a healthier y-o-u.

Outdoor Basketball
Enjoy the fresh air and practice your shot on the outdoor basketball court. This area has lights for night play.

Seniors Chair Aerobics
This gives seniors the opportunity to exercise while sitting. Don’t let standing keep you from staying fi t and strengthening your muscles. Begins March 8.

Boys to Men
Teen males are provided activities and workshops on becoming young productive citizens by learning self respect and understanding the progression from adolescent to adulthood. Several fun, educational, informative activities and events will be planned by participants and mentors. Pre-registration is required. Begins March 5.

Girls Get Motivated
Young ladies participate in group settings to learn about keeping positive behaviors, etiquette and life skills. Speakers and hands on activities will build their self-esteem and lead to positive goals.
10-16 yrs; Sat.; March 2-May 25; noon; Fees may be required for some outings

Snap a Picture
Youth will learn the basic skills of photography and enjoy snapping their favorite things or scenery.
10-16 yrs; 2nd Sat.; March 9-June 8; 11 am; $5

Little Chefs – Cooking Class
Children learn how to prepare simple meals and snacks that are nutritious and healthy. Instructions will be on meal selection, food preparation, cooking and use of utensils.
9-13 yrs; Sat.; March 2, April 6, May 4 and June 1; 11 am-12:30 pm; $6/session

Youth Free Play
Youth can socialize as they play small games, bumper pool, billiards, chess, checkers, video games and basketball.

Splash Pad
Fight the heat with a splash of water! Come enjoy the pad as water sprinkles from a rainbow of colored
arches. Onlookers can relax under the shaded tables near the splash pad.

Back to Basics Football Camp
A two-day camp designed to teach younger players the basic fundamentals of football. The camp also includes a skills obstacle course. Youth that registered to play football at Spivey Recreation Center will have the camp fee waived! Anyone interested should contact the center for more details.

Wilmington Road Youth Golf
This program will introduce youth to the technical and life skills of golf, which include classroom instructions and fi eld practice on site. Students will also practice on the assigned golf range.

Career Day
Career representatives will come and explain their jobs. Students can begin to learn the duties and training involved in certain careers. It’s never too early to pursue the occupation they want to be when they grow up.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Hands Thru Time
A pen pal writing program for after school youth and seniors living in the Spivey Recreation Center’s service area that participants will share ideas and concerns pertaining to each ones generation. Participants will compose two (2) letters each month to be shared with the other group.

Early Bird Shopping Trip
Get ahead and have that perfect dress in time for Easter. Registration deadline is Feb. 28. A minimum of 5 registrations is needed for the trip to make.
18+; Thurs., March 7; Departure 8:30 am; Return 7 pm; $10

Senior Mystery Trip
Surprise! Surprise! Enjoy a day out to have fun and fellowship. Registration deadline is May 2. A minimum of 5 registrations is needed for the trip to make.

Community Churches Fashion & Talent Show
Youth will present upcoming Easter and summer fashions and will entertain you with songs and dance routines. Youth desiring to participate in this event should register at the center.

Easter Egg Hunt
The Silver Square Lodge will co-sponsor this activity for children to enjoy hunting for eggs with prizes awarded to the ones that collected the most eggs in their age divisions. Refreshments will be served. Come out and enjoy a wonderful family activity.

Mother-Daughter Luncheon
Daughters celebrate and honor your mothers with games, arts & crafts and a luncheon. Let your
mother know how special she is to you and your family. Registration deadline is April 27.
