CENTER PROGRAMS
Tai Chi for Adults
Tai Chi is an ancient form of Chinese health practice and exercise art with movements performed very slowly and thoughtfully. It has often been called moving meditation because of its gentle flowing movement. The class includes meditation techniques, stretches, and warm-ups. This class is sponsored by the national Multiple Sclerosis Society and was created to benefit people with Multiple Sclerosis.
Caregivers and friends are welcome. Participants do not have to be MS diagnosed to participate; other diagnoses can participate as well.

Open Family Skate
Roller skating is equivalent to jogging in terms of health benefits, calorie burning, reduction of body fat and leg strength development. It’s also a great family activity. Kids, have a laugh as Mom and Dad attempt to skate as they did when they were kids. Parents teach your kids a favorite activity from your youth. Bring your own skates (roller or inline), and check in at the recreation center before heading
down to the hockey rink. No skateboards, please.

Youth Open Gym
Shoot some hoops, play a pickup game of basketball, jump rope and play games. The possibilities are endless. Open gym takes place in the Massey Hill Classical High School Gymnasium on Southern Avenue. All participants must be registered and signed in by a parent or guardian.

Community Watch

The Kickback Club
Need something to do after school? Then grab a few friends, head over to Massey Hill Recreation Center and challenge them in a game of cards, a verity of board games and some of the latest video games.

Sports Skills Academy
Massey Hill Sports Skills Academy will give the youth of Massey Hill and surrounding areas opportunity to learn the basic skills and conditioning for seasonal athletic sports. This program will help strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, and develop the athlete as a whole.

Kindermusik by Tender Stages
Kindermusik teaches children music so they can become better learners. Kindermusik is designed to develop skills in children 0-7 years of age. The skills Kindermusik develops are cognitive, physical, emotional, language and musical skills. Kindermusik by Tender Stages will take those special bonding moments between you and your baby and add in a unique blend of musical learning activities that stimulate and engage all of the senses. Your educator will teach you how to encourage your baby’s learning through vocal play, object exploration, instruments, and creative movement. Each class meets once a week for 15 weeks. Adult Coed Kickball League
For all adults out there that need to relive those elementary school playground years or for those of you that still can’t let go of those childhood memories of being kind of the kickball field, here is your opportunity. You may register by team or as an individual. All individual registrations will be placed on a team per center staff. Join the Massey Hill Recreation Center’s Adult Coed Kickball League!

Fayetteville-Cumberland Community Band
The purpose of the Fayetteville-Cumberland Community Band is to provide a musical service to our community by providing an opportunity for instrumental musicians to come together and enjoy playing a variety of music. The FCCB will strive to give students and more experienced musicians an opportunity to play together and learn from each other. As a volunteer group, FCCB will strive for excellence however keeping the perspective that playing music must be an enjoyable experience for both the audience and the performers. The FCCB will present several concerts throughout the year.
