Computer Classes
The Senior Center offers Computer Classes as well as open Lab Times. Please contact the center for classes, days and times. Classes offered include Basic Computers and Internet and Email.

Time Out For Seniors
Every Thurs. evening, you are invited to the Gilmore Recreation Center to listen to various forms of music (Blue Grass, Country, Oldies) with wonderful musicians. It is a great time for all - and the best part - it's free.

Aqua Aerobics
Water Aerobics is one of the best forms of exercise, and is great for those 55 and older. Classes are held at the FSU Natatorium.

Blue Bird House & Predator Guard Construction
This hour class will assist you in making proper Blue Bird Houses, as well as Predator Guards to ensure your Blue Bird house stays safe! This will be a weekly class and will begin on Mon., Sept. 14. Bird house construction will be free; however, you will be asked to assist in making other houses to be sold by ‘Friends of the Senior Center.

Senior Center Vital Sign/Blood Pressure Schedule
Various health care agencies will be at the center to provide vital sign check-ups free of charge to

Taster's Delight
If you are interested in gathering with others at local restaurants to ‘eat & meet'- then this group is for you. Contact the center to find what's for lunch this month.

Red Hatters-Cardinals
Join this Red Hat Chapter and see what all the fun is about. Monthly meetings start at the Senior Center, but all are asked to contact the center for meeting details.

Joint Fayetteville/Cumberland County Senior Citizens Advisory Board
A commission representing Senior Citizens concerns and issues for the entire County of Cumberland meets monthly. City Council and County Commissioners appoint representatives to the Board. Meetings are open to the general public and anyone is invited to attend.

Senior Cheerleading Groups
If you like to move and groove, then you should join one of these groups. Groups perform at various functions throughout the City and County as well as at the Senior Games. Dogwood Silverstriders - Walking Program
This group is part of the Senior Games. Each month members come together to walk. You keep track of your time or miles walked, log them and turn them in for rewards. Please contact the Senior Center for a calendar.

Mobile Outreach
The Mobile Outreach Service provides public library services to county residents who are homebound,
institutionalized, or otherwise unable to visit a library facility on a regular basis. Mobile Outreach materials, including a special Mobile Outreach video collection, are loaned for four weeks. For more information call Edwina at 483-7727 Ext. 124. The Mobile Outreach makes stops at the center from 10:45-11:25 am every 4th Wed., please contact the center for dates.

Steppin' Into September
The heat is almost gone, but we are going to bring in Sept. with some HOT steps! Your Senior Center staff will be on hand to instruct dances such as the Electric Slide, Cuban Shuffle, Boot Scooting Boogy and much more! All skills levels welcome.

Create-A-Craft
This program is great for those ‘creative' minds. Sessions last no longer than 1 1/2 hours. You will make and take small, easy crafts for special occasions.

Seasoned Readers Book Club
Love reading - then join this intriguing group as we turn the pages of many great books. The best part is this book club also involved good eats! In honor of National Sewing Month we are hosting a sewing contest. All entries must be made by the individual. Categories to be recognized are: Best Overall, Most Unique and Most Usable. Prizes will be awarded immediately after judging.

Golden Girl Pageant
Its time to crown the 2010 Fayetteville-Cumberland Senior Center Golden Girl! Categories consist of themed casual wear, formal wear and interview. All FCPR sponsored clubs are challenged to provide one representative to vie for the title. All spectators are welcome to enjoy the beauty and talent. Registration for participants is Nov. 2-30. Stay tuned for additional details.

Santa's Workshop
Are you crafty? Do you love the holidays? Want to eat some cookies? Then this is for you! At Santa's Workshop, we'll have carols, cookies, hot cocoa and carpentry. We will have several different toys for you to make. You will glue, drill, hammer, paint, glitter and decorate your project. Toy list to be released in Nov. during registration. Register Nov. 2-27.

Shred-a-Thon
Wondering what you are going to do with all that paper work with sensitive information? Don't throw it in the garbage for the dumpster divers-bring it to the Senior Center to the annual Shred-a-Thon. Appointments for use of shredders are available all day! Register Dec. 1- Jan. 8.

Mid-Carolina Senior Games
Compete in all your favorite senior game events. Register early to assure your spot! Games will be held April 14-29. Contact the Senior Center for more details.

Fayetteville-Cumberland County Senior Clubs
Senior Clubs meet monthly - however, times and location may change due to scheduled programs. Club members are encouraged to join District II, recognized by the North Carolina Association of Senior Citizens Clubs. There is a yearly membership fee of $4. Senior Club members may participate in all club activities without District II membership, but will not be able to participate in District II functions.
