Youth Open Gym

Walking Track
Enjoy a cardio workout on your down time; utilize the walking track around the baseball fi eld. For those keeping count, five times around the track equals a mile!

Join the Stedman Walking Club. Meet new friends and catch up with old ones. The walking club is a fun way to socialize with residents of the community while getting the necessary exercise.

A.S.C.C. Monthly Support Group
The Autism Society of Cumberland County and the Stedman Recreation Center are proud to host a monthly Autism Support Group. ASCC Monthly Support Groups are open to parents, professionals, and anyone else who wishes to attend. Our support groups are a great place to network with other parents and share your ideas or concerns. Meetings begin Mon., Aug. 26. Please call for more information or future dates.

Cheer & Tumble Class
Cheerleading promotes coordination, fitness and confidence. Learn all you need to know to prepare for
middle school and high school cheerleading. This class will concentrate on cheer, motion technique, dance, jumps, tumbling and stunts.

Girl Scouts
Girls Scouts provides young ladies with an accepting and nurturing environment to build character and skills for success in the real world. Troop 3888 invites you to join and take part in awesome activities and programs. The Daisy group is open to Kindergarten and First Graders. Space is Limited!

Lil’ Bakers

P.L.A.Y. Time
Parents Lead Active Youth in play and social interaction in this one-hour program. P.L.A.Y. Time is a parent-lead time for children to interact with others in a fun, relaxing environment. Join us for a great hour where your child can meet and engage in fun activities with other children, all without messing up your living room! Toys and activities will be provided.

Create-a-Craft
This program is for those who require no instruction to release their abundance of creativity. The center will provide a variety of artsy items and you will have the opportunity to create as you choose! Feathers, buttons, paints, beads and more- what more could you ask for!

Tiny Tumblers
This class is perfect for your lively toddler with lots of energy! Gymnastics promotes balance, coordination and fine motor skills through a series of playful activities. Join us with your toddler for an introduction to gymnastics, shapes, colors and group interaction. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate with their toddler. Pre-registration is required prior to the fi rst class of the month.

FISH-Fresh Ideas Start Here - Stedman Area Church Meeting
The Stedman Recreation Center will be meeting with the district churches to discuss programming and volunteer options to offer the best opportunities to the citizens of Stedman and surrounding communities. Pastors and congregation are invited to these brainstorming sessions.

Boys to Men & Girls to Women
Boys to Men & Girls to Women is a series of programs offered to local youth which will focus on providing ‘out of the box’ life skills! Life Skills not typically taught anywhere else such as: How to change a fl at tire, event and party planning, yard maintenance equipment use and safety emergency/disaster preparedness, self-defense and much more! These programs will meet monthly and will offer hands on opportunities for personal development.

Financial Literacy
Together we will explore the history behind money and the images which appear on the front and back of each piece. Presentation may also include the importance of saving and what payroll deductions you could expect with your very first paycheck.

Boys and Girls…Let’s Volunteer!
Join us for this installment of our Boys to Men and Girls to Women program as we help our community and volunteer! We will visit a local rest home and participate in a few activities with residents such as arts and crafts or bingo.

Hands Only CPR
Do you know what to do in the case someone collapse’s? Studies show being trained in hands only CPR can make a difference in saving someone life. The American Red Cross will teach this 30-minute course which involves compressions only.

Youth Social on Peer Pressure
Join us for this installment of our Boys to Men and Girls to Women program. We will have a youth social here at the Stedman Recreation Center where we will have video games, music, board games and more! We will also here a brief lesson on peer pressure, taught by Steven York who is the Youth Minister at Antioch Baptist Church. Finger foods will be provided!

Speaking in front of large groups not your favorite thing to do? Do you get nervous and the words just don’t seem to come out right? This session will share tips and techniques that will have you speaking with confidence in no time!

Kids Car Maintenance
Join us for another installment of the Boys to Men and Girls to Women Program where we will go through the basics of car maintenance. On the agenda will be how to change a tire, checking your oil, checking tire pressure and refilling wiper fluid.

Bases Loaded Baseball/Softball Camp
Come get a little spring training before baseball season starts! Pitching, hitting, fi elding, and base running will be covered. Participants must provide baseball glove and must register at the Stedman Recreation Center.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny
Pancakes and Sausage served Hot and Ready! Be sure to have your camera ready to get that perfect picture with the Easter Bunny! Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Stedman vs. Eastover Community Kickball Competition
Let the rivalry begin! Teams from Stedman and Eastover will compete in a good ole’ fashion game of kickball. Up for grabs are bragging rights and the Kickball Kup! We encourage you to gather your players and hurry to register for this family oriented event. Players on teams must consist of children and adults. Register as a team or as an individual and we can place you on a team. Prizes given for most creative team name!

‘Spring is Here’ Family Scavenger Hunt
Teams of 6-8 people are welcome to join in the 1st Annual ‘Spring is Here’ Scavenger Hunt. The object is to use the clues on the list to determine a point of interest and take a picture. Each item on the list is given a point value. Everyone on the team must be in the picture. Family with the most points at the end of the hunt wins a prize!

‘Isn’t She Lovely’- Mother’s Day Café
All participants will take part in creating a delicious, fresh meal and then having the chance to share this special meal with their very own family! We can’t forget Mom’s Mother’s Day goodies - prior to cooking we will create Mom the perfect gift! Participants will arrive at 1 pm to begin preparation and cooking. Family members will return at 4 pm to enjoy the meal! Space is limited to 5 families so be sure to register early.

Father Son Target Shooting
Are you a Sharp Shooter? Do you want to learn to shoot with best of them? Join us for this perfect Fathers Day activity as we travel to the Spring Lake Clay Target center for some target practice. Clay targets will be thrown from a variety of angles. Instruction is also included!

Cape Fear Regional Round-Up
Football Season is around the corner! These clinics are a great opportunity for kids to sharpen techniques with a focus on specifi c football positions. Each hour will be split into two sessions: one offensive and one defensive. Instruction provided by Cape Fear High School football coaches. Players wanting to attend must pre-register at any FCPR recreation center. Contact Eastover-Central (433-1226) or Stedman (433-1440) for more details.
